Retaining Walls
Retaining walls create or enlarge a flat area in a sloping lot. They turn your unusable yard into a safe, level area you can actually use. You can cut a driveway into a sloped hillside by putting a retaining wall on the downhill, uphill or both sides, depending on how steep the slope is. They can also maximize parking spaces, create space for patios, outline planters and add visual appeal to your yard.
Materials vary from railroad ties, landscape timbers, artificial stone stackers, concrete block or poured concrete. Short walls can be done with stone or stone can be veneered over concrete.
